Why hire Reel Titles?

Since 1995, we’ve worked on over 700 major motion pictures and trailers, either independently or for other major companies, as well as for all the major Hollywood studios.

If you’re an independent filmmaker, we’ll work with your budget and timetable.

What is a CCSL, and why do I need one?

Reel Titles produces high-quality CCSLs. The CCSL, aka Combined Continuity & Master English Spotting/Subtitle List, is a detailed document that provides studios and film distributors with a shot-by-shot description of all the action in a film, trailer, or TV show, including all spoken dialogue, narrative titles and exploitation titles, and a ready-to-translate, annotated subtitle list with in and out timecodes for digital, laser, or overlay subtitling.

The CCSL is a legal description of the film for copyright purposes and is typically a delivery requirement between a production company and a studio. The continuity is used for pan and scan and for content editing, the dialogue for dubbing and closed captioning, and the subtitles for foreign release.

Tell me more about Dialogue Lists and Subtitles

A Dialogue List is a word-for-word transcription of the film, trailer, or TV show dialogue, including timestamping and detailed annotations. Dialogue Lists are used in preparing films for foreign release, particularly dubbing in other languages than English.

A Spotting & Subtitle List includes narrative titles and exploitation titles and a ready-to-translate, annotated subtitle list with in and out timecodes for digital, laser, or overlay subtitling. Spotting is the process of identifying the in and out timecodes for each subtitle, narrative title, and exploitation title. The annotations help foreign translators come up with the best adaptation in their own language.

Why isn’t the pricing transparent?

Pricing is highly specific to each individual project, and there are multiple factors that play a role in determining pricing including, but not limited to the needed turnaround time and project runtime. We’re happy to provide you with a customized quote, which allows us to protect our competitiveness and to offer you the most accurate information possible so there are no surprises later.
